About Me

Welcome to My Practice

Professional experiences

My name is Laura Lupi. As a bilingual psychotherapist originally from Venezuela, I bring over 14 years of clinical experience to my work. My journey in psychology began at the Centro de Salud Mental del Este El Peñón in Caracas, where I completed my Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy training and residency. There, I had the privilege of supporting at-risk populations, offering psychotherapy and counseling in both outpatient and inpatient settings. I collaborated closely with medical teams to provide therapeutic interventions and comprehensive assessments for individuals facing from expected and normal life transitions and relational challenges, to acute and chronic mental health challenges, while also offering vital support to their families, whenever needed.

My journey continued in London, where I engaged in psychotherapy and psychoanalysis courses at the Tavistock Clinic NHS Foundation Trust, while also gaining invaluable experience at the Ellern Meade Centre for Eating Disorders, working with children and adolescents.
Upon my return to Venezuela, I completed my clinical residency at the Hospital Centro de Salud Mental del Este El Peñón. After relocating to Madrid, I pursued further training in Transcultural Psychotherapy and am currently engaged in studies to become a Psychoanalyst at the Centro de Estudios y Aplicación del Psicoanálisis.

Currently, I offer psychotherapy for adults and adolescents in my private practice, available both online globally and in La Almudena, Madrid, in English and Spanish. I collaborate with a network of psychiatrists, psychologists, nutritionists, and other health professionals to ensure comprehensive care when needed.

My personal journey as an immigrant

My path has not only been shaped by my professional experiences but also by my personal journey as an immigrant, having fled the political turmoil of Venezuela. This has given me a profound understanding of the psychosocial trauma associated with forced displacement, as well as insights into the grief and opportunities for growth that can arise from such experiences. Coming from a multicultural family, I have gained familiarity with diverse cultures in places such as France, South Africa, Boston, and London. These experiences have enriched my understanding of the human experience and culture as a second skin, in all its forms.

After exploring my passion for fine arts for a semester at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, I returned to Venezuela to complete my degree in Psychology at Universidad Metropolitana. My journey continued in London, where I engaged in psychotherapy and psychoanalysis courses at the Tavistock Clinic NHS Foundation Trust, while also gaining invaluable experience at the Ellern Meade Centre for Eating Disorders, working with children and adolescents.

I am deeply fascinated by the complexity of human nature, exploring its manifestations, resources, and the interplay of culture, art, and aesthetics in our lives. I find joy in painting, music, and literature, which fuel my creativity and empathy.
